Core nomination rules

The essential conditions for a valid nomination

Start with eligibility, choose the right recognition area and submit a complete account.

Eligibility

Who can be nominated

Nominations are open across the continent to individuals, enterprises, institutions and projects whose work advances African trade, industrialisation and integration.

  • Individuals — leaders and officials advancing trade and integration
  • Enterprises — companies and platforms of any scale
  • Institutions — trade banks, development finance institutions and regional bodies
  • Projects — landmark initiatives of continental significance

Category focus

One nomination, one award

Each nomination is submitted against a single award and category. A nominee may be put forward for more than one award, but each requires its own nomination and its own evidence.

Review

Assessment and outcome

Every nomination is reviewed for completeness and eligibility, then assessed against the published recognition criteria. Each nomination carries a clear status in the nominator's account until the edition closes.

Evidence & integrity

Claims must be clear, credible and capable of review

Recognition is evidence-led. Every nomination must set out what the nominee has achieved in terms that can be checked independently.

Consent

Nominee consent

A nomination may only be submitted where the nominee is aware of it and agrees to be considered. Consent is confirmed at submission.

Integrity

Accuracy and good faith

Information submitted must be accurate and submitted in good faith. Nominations containing material inaccuracies may be set aside for the edition.

Special nomination conditions

The same standard applies to every submission

How a nomination is made does not change the evidence or independence required.

Equal standard

Self-nomination

Organisations and individuals may nominate themselves. Self-nominations are assessed against exactly the same standards and evidence requirements as any other nomination.

Independence

Recognition cannot be purchased

Nomination does not create any obligation, payment or commercial relationship. Recognition cannot be purchased, and partnership does not influence assessment.
