Awards Charter
Awards Charter
The governing principles of the Africa Trade Awards: purpose, recognition standards and conduct.
- 01
Purpose
The Africa Trade Awards exist to identify, celebrate and elevate the individuals, enterprises, institutions and projects moving African trade, industrialisation and integration forward.
- 02
Recognition standard
Recognition is earned on evidence of measurable contribution. It is never conferred on reputation, publicity or commercial relationship.
- 03
Independence
Assessment is carried out independently of the Awards' commercial activity. Partnership, sponsorship and attendance carry no influence over any outcome.
- 04
The recognition journey
Every honour follows the same published route, from nomination through to presentation on stage.

- 05
Fairness
Nominees are assessed against the criteria published for their award and category, and against the same standards regardless of country, size or sector.
- 06
Conduct
Everyone involved in the Awards is expected to act with integrity, declare any interest that could affect impartiality, and withdraw from consideration of any matter where impartiality could reasonably be questioned.
- 07
Confidentiality
Nomination material and assessment discussions are treated as confidential and are used only for the purpose of assessing recognition.
- 08
Record
Each edition is documented as a permanent record of recognition — the honourees, the awards conferred, and the evidence standard they were held to.
